3 Natural Ingredients for DIY Hair Removal Treatments

When you are a girl, having unwanted patches of hair growth on any part of the body can be seriously stressful. And what if you can't afford expensive hair removal treatments? Well, this doesn't mean that you have to live with your unwanted body or facial hair. In fact, there are plenty of natural ingredients that have hair removal properties if they are applied regularly. Here are some ways to give yourself a natural hair removal treatment at home.

Papaya. Look on the ingredients list of any hair removal cream and you are likely to see something called "papain". This mysterious substance isn't something created in a laboratory – it is something that exists in our natural world, and you can find high quantities of papain in raw papaya. Simply mash up the papaya and apply it to the affected area to experience all the hair removal benefits of papain – you can even use it on your face because it is all natural and very gentle. And, actually, papain also has anti-inflammatory properties, so it will prevent redness and blotchiness on your skin at the same time as removing the hair. You could also use ingredients such as papaya powder or papaya extract in place of the fruit.

Gram flour. Gram flour is another natural miracle product used for hair removal. It's easy to come by and extremely cheap, a little goes a long way, and you might find it sold as chickpea flour. Gram flour works by actually making small hairs weaker. This makes them fall off and inhibits them from growing again. Because gram flour is coarser than regular bread or baking flour, it also works wonderfully as an exfoliant. Mix it into a paste with milk, honey, and a squeeze of lemon, and gently spread it all over your face. Leave it until it is set on your face and then rinse it off.

Alum powder. Although you may not have heard of alum powder before, you will probably be able to find it in the spices or baking section of your supermarket. It is most commonly used to make pickles and preservatives, but it also has natural hair removal properties. An alum powder and rosewater solution is a common Asian serum that is used for hair removal. While the alum works to astringently remove hair, the rosewater provides a balance and softens the skin.

If these methods don't work for you, it may be worth it to contact a local clinic that offers hair removal procedures.
